Rameshwaram - Tamilnadu

Top Destinations - Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram, renowned as “Kasi of the South”, happens to be the only sacred centre in Tamil Nadu to have the Jyotirlingam where the remaining eleven Jyotirlinga temples are in North India. The Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram is most popular among the pilgrims and the town is witnessing pilgrims from North India and other states round the year. The presiding deity of this temple is believed to have been worshipped by Lord Rama as per the Hindu legends. The ornately carved sculptures, huge pillars, halls and the longest corridors are the prominent features of this temple. The sea shore, agni thirtham, Ramar Patham, Pamban Bridge and the house of the former President of India, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam are the most significant locations of Rameswaram.
